I'd never thought about entering a competition like this before. It wasn't until I came across the Miss England stand at the Birmingham Clothes Show back in November when I went for a day out with my sister that I actually took it into consideration. What did I have to lose? Not a lot. So with my sister encouraging me, I put all my details down on the entry form and carried on my day at the show, which is any girls dream. Honestly, if you haven't been to the Clothes show (Birmingham or London) then you're really missing out. To be honest, once I was back in London and swamped with work from the academy I'd completely forgotten about the competition. PING! My phone goes and I'm sat there thinking, 'oh great, another pointless email from a company advertising something that I probably won't care about.' How wrong was I.. That email was conformation from the pageant to say that I'd got through to the quarter final stage of Miss London and I was ecstatic. Who wouldn't be?! So I went along to the audition in Shoreditch in early January and again I found myself sitting there thinking 'Joey, what on earth have you got yourself into?!' and then quickly shutting myself up by thinking 'oh stop it, you've got nothing to lose'. So I did my best at the audition, gave it what I could and then before I knew it I was back into life as a fashion student. So then, a few weeks later I'm sat in bed with one of my best friends having a catch up about what's going on in life and PING, my phones goes. So I unlock my phone to see this.. 'CONGRATULATIONS! You are officially a Semi-Finalist of the Miss London and Miss Hippodrome 2015 heat and have won a place at our Pageant Training Day!' OH MY GOD. Oh my god, oh my god, oh my god. I'M THROUGH TO SEMI FINALS. And I've literally been that excited ever since. Now the hard work begins. Fundraising, sponsors, charity events, it's all going on and I'm loving every minute of it. Thankyou to all my lovely friends and family that have supported me through all of this. It means the world to me. Finals, here I come! And you know what they say, If the crown fits.. |
